China says CPEC won't be affected by change of govt in Pakistan”

China said on Thursday development work on 19 of 50 projects related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was already under way. In April 2015, China and Pakistan launched CPEC for energy and infrastructure projects in Pakistan worth $46 billion, linking their economies and underscoring China's economic ambitions in Asia and beyond.

"China and Pakistan are determined to complete the CPEC projects in time and no power can dismantle the landmark project. Being a honest friend of Pakistan, China wants Pakistan to seize this opportunity", Chinese Foreign Ministry's Deputy Division Director on Asian Affairs Liu Pengfei said during a briefing held here for a Pakistani media delegation.

The diplomat said Pakistan and China had very friendly relations so it did not matter which political party formed the government in Pakistan. "We are not concerned about voices - foreign or local - against the CPEC".

"I don't know how your Reporters arrive at such conclusion", Hua said, asserting that projects in Pakistan and Laos are going an smoothly.

She said it is because of his ideology and stability of democratic process in the country that made the CPEC possible. Pengfei expressed satisfaction with the pace of CPEC projects, adding it would pick up further speed once the infrastructure situation improves in Pakistan. He disclosed that China was planning to begin construction of the Gwadar International Airport and Expressway this year as all hiccups had been removed and paperwork completed for the goal.

She was addressing a ceremony of CPEC cultural Caravan at Pakistan National Council of Arts in Islamabad on Friday.

She said in 2013 country was ailing because of terrorist activities and the current government, common people and armed forces through tireless efforts have controlled this menace. He said Punjab would benefit the most from this project, besides other provinces of Pakistan. However, China would stand by Pakistan in all circumstances, he stressed.

While pushing the CPEC "in a massive vote of confidence in its all-weather ally, Chinese officials have quietly encouraged their Pakistani partners to facilitate the success of the project by abandoning its decades-old pursuit of strategic objectives in Afghanistan and Kashmir through the support of non-state jihadis", the article said.
