Cops: Man shot in gang beef as vehicles race in Back Bay”

Two vehicles raced down Massachusetts Avenue tonight before shots were fired from an SUV at a white auto, leaving the car's driver fighting for his life, police said. He is in critical condition.

The driver of the white vehicle was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said they are looking for a dark SUV and are asking for the public's help.

"We clearly believe this is a gang-related shooting", Evans said.

Police are looking for a dark SUV, but Evans expected more details after reviewing surveillance footage.

The man, who crashed his white Chevy Malibu into a parked vehicle near the intersection with Huntington Avenue, was taken to Boston Medical Center in critical condition, police said. The neighborhood, not far from Northeastern University, is typically quiet and safe, Arevalo said. They noted that there was no threat to the safety of people in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Boston Police CrimeStoppers at 1-800-494-TIPS.

A shooting near Boston's Symphony Hall Monday night is under investigation by police.
