Five players score in Bruins win against Wild

Five players score in Bruins win against Wild”

Jake DeBrusk and Frank Vatrano each scored a first-period goal, and the Boston Bruins held off Minnesota 5-3 on Monday night for their third victory in the last 11 games against the Wild. The B's netminder gave up a juicy rebound, though, and Nino Niederreiter collected the puck, made a double move and put the puck past Rask to give the Wild a 1-0 lead.

After Mikael Granlund cut a 4-1 Boston lead with a goal 1:33 into the third period, Granlund was tripped by Torey Krug heading for a short-handed breakaway with 13:05 left in the game.

Ryan Suter ripped a shot at Tuukka Rask who made the initial save. The 26-year-old son of former National Hockey League forward Ray Ferraro, who recorded five goals and five assists in 58 games with Boston in 2015-16, had missed the Wild's last seven contests with a hip flexor injury but netted one tally in two matches prior to getting hurt.

Boston outshot Minnesota 15-4 in the second period.

Minnesota pulled its goalie with about 2½ minutes left and Tim Schaller wrapped it up with an empty-netter in the final minute.

And the Bruins didn't stop there.

Jake DeBrusk, Frank Vatrano, Sean Kuraly and Krug all poured goals past Devan Dubnyk, who shut the Bruins out twice a year ago but was chased after two periods Monday (20 saves). Dubnyk was able to block the shot and stymy the rebound attempt from Danton Heinen, but Kuraly came flying toward the net and smacked the puck into the back of the net to give the B's a 3-1 lead.

The Bruins then took control when Kuraly and Krug scored a little more than two minutes apart early in the second.

NOTES: The injury-ravaged Bruins placed C David Krejci (back) on injured reserve as he missed his seventh straight game. Monday was Military Appreciation Night with seven Bruins players donating $2,500 worth of tickets to veterans. The Wild just completed their longest homestand of the season at 3-3. D Rob O'Gara was recalled by Boston. For now, we'll consider Marchand - the Bruins' leading scorer - day-to-day in advance of Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
