Real Madrid fans blasted by former defender Pepe”

Former Real Madrid defender, Pepe, has told turkish media that he believes his former club's fans do not transmit enthusiasm to the fans.

The 34-year-old was at the heart of a defensive unit which helped guide Madrid to three La Liga titles, three Champions League triumphs and two Club World Cup crowns. Comparing both sets of fans, Pepe was quick to call Besiktas supporters very passionate whenever his Turkish side goes out on the pitch.

"Maybe the fans of Real Madrid won't like what I say".

In a revealing interview with Turkish reporters, the Euro 2016 victor conceded Real Madrid's supporters are no comparison to his new legion of fans.

"When you enter the field, the noise that comes from the stands always surprises me". The former Porto defender who joined Real Madrid in 2007 also appreciated the atmosphere Besiktas supporters create at the Vodafone Arena in Istanbul."The atmosphere at Besiktas is very different to at Real Madrid. In Turkey people really love sport, they only think about football", added Pepe.

It is not the first time that Pepe, once he arrived at Besiktas, has spoken about Real Madrid.

Pepe gained infamy in his second campaign in Spain for kicking out at Getafe's Javier Casquero after fouling him and punching Juan Albin in a game in April 2009, earning a 10-game ban, and later said he had "lost control".
