Suzuki Intruder 150 launched in India at Rs 98340

Suzuki Intruder 150 launched in India at Rs 98340”

Suzuki's maiden cruiser entry in India borrows Gixxer's motor, takes on Bajaj Avenger. The Intruder 150's styling is inspired by the bigger capacity, Suzuki Intruder motorcycles.

The Suzuki Intruder has been priced at Rs 98,340 which is about Rs 18,000 more expensive than its rival, the Bajaj Avenger Street 150, which is priced at Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom). The Suzuki boffins have tried to create the same bulky look as the Intruder's bigger sibling. The looks can divide opinion, but like it or not, you cannot ignore it for sure.

The new Intruder 150, though, is based on the same platform as the Suzuki Gixxer, however the gear ratios of the both the bikes are different and the chassis has been tweaked to fit the cruiser set up.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, SMIPL said, "The birth of INTRUDER in 1985 gave the world - a modern cruiser". The fuel tank gets massive shrouds which adds muscle and also there are quite a number of body panels on the side and at the rear as well.

As we mentioned earlier, the underpinnings of the Intruder have been borrowed from the Gixxer, but Suzuki says that the bike, in essence, is all-new.

This is bike, which comes powered by 155cc single cylinder petrol engine, is a clone of the Suzuki's famous Intruder, the 1800cc, twin cylinder bike also available in India for Rs 16 lakh.

Powering the Intruder is the Gixxer-sourced 154.9cc mill which produces 14.8hp at 8,000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The exhaust is large with a dual port unit similar to a Gixxer. Thanks to the body panels and the changes in the engine, the Intruder weighs 8 kg more than the Gixxer at 148 kg. With a curb weight of 148kg, the bike will have a fuel consumption of 44km/ltr, claims the company.

Suzuki Motorcycle India has recorded 5.3 per cent increase in its market share during April - September, 2017 when compared with 3.8 per cent during corresponding period previous year.
