Alexa decides to have a rave while German owner is away”

Most popular music is made using computers now, but what if computers are also beginning to enjoy music themselves?

Police in Hamburg had to bust down the door of one Oliver Haberstroh, while he was out at a club, because Amazon's Alexa home assistant had made a decision to, apparently of its own free will, blast music at full volume between 1:50 and 3 o'clock in the morning.

A German man landed in hot water after his Amazon personal assistant went rogue - playing deafening music at 2 a.m. while he was away, the Telegraph reported.

But Haberstroh fears his device acted on its own after he went out with friends on Friday night, leaving his flat empty and making sure to turn off his music.

"Alexa independently, without command and without being controlled by my mobile phone, made a decision to celebrate her own party at full volume", he wrote on Amazon's Facebook page.

Frustrated neighbours alerted police, which broke into the apartment and silenced Alexa, pulling out the plug.

This file photo shows Amazon's Echo speaker, which responds to voice commands, in NY. Japanese companies will even be able to use Alexa's Voice Service soon, which will give them the power to embed Alexa into their devices, services and maybe even their robots.

In his Facebook post, Haberstroh questioned how Alexa could have turned itself on, since his apartment is on the sixth floor and his windows weren't open.

When Haberstroh arrived at home, he found a new lock and had to get new keys at police station - along with an expensive locksmith bill.

"When I asked Alexa how we could stay together and whether she could pay me back what she'd cost me, all I got was a dry, 'I couldn't find any answer to the question, '" he said.
