Aston Martin Vantage revealed in patent images

Aston Martin Vantage revealed in patent images”

Aston Martin has revealed on its Twitter account that its eagerly anticipated new Vantage will be officially revealed on November 21. This model, however, seems to have a more rounded style as opposed to the DB's angular design.

It has teased an image of the car's name underneath a set of scary-looking wolf's eyes, which clearly represent the company's private equity owners if the model isn't a raging success. In addition to this announcement photo, a couple of teaser pics have also been released, showing off the car's upgraded design.

The image of a covered vehicle confirms that the model, which will take inspiration from the DB10, uses a full-length rear light strip - a fashionable design trend that's also applied to models such as the new Porsche 911. More importantly, the preview image shows a large rear wing, suggesting that the GTE version of the Vantage will also be revealed alongside its road-going variant.

The vehicle appears to take inspiration from the Db10 at both the front and the rear of the auto.

The Vantage will use a new generation of aluminium architecture that is a shortened version of the DB11's.

The entry-level Aston will first arrive as a V8, adopting the Mercedes-AMG engine recently launched in the DB11. The new Vantage is set to get a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine producing as much as 500 horsepower as part of Aston's technical partnership with Mercedes.

Discuss this story on our Aston Martin forum. The additional horses will help cut the outgoing 0-60mph time of 4.8 seconds to just 4.0 seconds. We're expecting the auto to be launched with the option of either a six-speed manual gearbox or a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
