Babies are being born with deformities near North Korea nuclear test site

Babies are being born with deformities near North Korea nuclear test site”

Even though the country has not really specified which mountain it has been carrying these tests under, researchers at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, Anhui province, have reportedly measured and studied the earthquakes that are a result of these nuclear tests and believe that these are all being carried out under the same mountain.

Recent satellite imagery shows "significant movement" at a tunnel complex that has not been used in a nuclear test at the Punggye-ri test site in northeastern North Korea, a US institute said Monday.

North Korea said at the time that the test - a miniaturized hydrogen bomb capable of fitting on an intercontinental ballistic missile - was a "perfect success" and a "meaningful" step forward.

The drinking water in Kiliju comes down from Mt. Mantap in Punggye-ri, where the nuclear test site is located, and locals believe it is contaminated.

One defector said: "I heard from a relative in Kilju that deformed babies were born in hospitals there".

One person, who claimed to have fled after living through two nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009, said citizens were not warned in advance.

Local residents were prohibited from traveling to Pyongyang after the sixth nuclear test.

An Indonesian official at Indonesia's Meterological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) points to a map of North Korea showing where the agency recorded a 6.2 magnitude natural disaster caused by a North Korean nuclear test on September 3, 2017. The defectors revealed that tress have stopped growing in certain areas, wells have dried up, and babies are born with abnormal birth defects, according to the Chosun Iblo, a South Korean media outlet.

The area's population comprises soldiers and a few plantation farmers. "During those works, they detonated once, and I personally saw corpses with severed limbs floating down the river", an unnamed person said adding that no one takes security measures during the tests of the detonators.

Wells have run dry and 80 per cent of trees that are planted die in the region, 21 defectors from the county have revealed while speaking to a South Korean newspaper.

The nuclear trials are also having an impact on the environment in the area, one former local claimed. You can blame it on poor planting, but the number of trees that die is higher than in other mountains'.

Using commercial satellite images North Korea monitoring organization 38 North identified "significant movement of equipment, mining carts, material and netting" in an area where little or no activity had been seen for the past several months.

Another report, published on November 6, said that the nuclear test site showed significant recent activity since the latest test.

Around 100 people were trapped when an unfinished tunnel at the Punggye-ri site caved in, and an additional 100 people could have died in a second collapse during a rescue attempt, Japanese television station TV Asahi.
