Bill Clinton discusses politics and the state of America on 'Conan'”

At the top of their discussion, host Conan O'Brien asked Clinton about the changes the country has gone through since he won his first presidential election back in 1992.

Clinton said, "[Dictators] want two things: "Nuclear weapons, because they feel like they can never be dislodged no matter how much people hate them if they've got nuclear power.

That rattled O'Brien. "Are you talking about foreign countries or here?"

During Conan O'Brien's busy week in New York's Apollo Theater, the 42nd president of the United States, and nearly first man, Bill Clinton stopped by to talk politics.

Discussing Hillary's defeat in 2016, Clinton explained "the people who voted for her were people who were hopeful about the future, believed in the assets of the country, believed we could grow together, and were basically more resistant to the freaky nature of the way the election was covered". Because that chilled me to the bone for a second, ' O'Brien said to all that. When asked whether America had changed a lot since his presidency, Clinton's answer was "yes and no".

Bill Clinton went on Conan onWednesday night.

"I think the good news is, and I know it's hard to see it and totally unfashionable to talk about..."

"Well there is that", Clinton said.

Clinton spoke almost uninterrupted for the next five minutes about policies that restrict immigration and the spread of misinformation that he believes aided President Trump during last year's elections.

Clinton criticized efforts to disenfranchise voters, such as immigrants, the elderly and the poor, saying a key reason there's no immigration reform is that representatives who oppose it worry expanding the electorate would hurt their political prospects.

Those who are unhappy with recent policies bear some responsibility if they don't vote in mid-term elections, Clinton added.

"We're in the middle of this transition of how we get our information and how we communicate", he said. "We have to create inclusive economics, inclusive societies and we need an inclusive culture".
