Christopher Nolan Apologized to Netflix Chief Content Officer

"Netflix has a freaky aversion to supporting theatrical films", the filmmaker said over the summer.

It's not every director that can turn to one of the industry's best for some quick tips and pristine prints of classic movies, but then again, Christopher Nolan isn't every director. What a guy! Find out more about the Christopher Nolan Netflix apology below. "I don't really get it". "I realized I was looking for a different type of tension", said Nolan, with Dunkirk instead aiming for something else entirely. "I needed suspense, and the language of suspense is one where you can't take your eyes from the screen", explained Nolan.

While making Dunkirk, director Christopher Nolan consulted with Steven Spielberg.

Consequently, when Nolan was asked if he would ever work with Netflix on a film that a studio wasn't willing to back, he was succinct: "No".

Netflix and their strategy of distribution in both streaming and in-room. Purpose, what if there's no movie theater in your neighborhood? There was an obvious irony to these arguments being made by one of the rare directors who has been able to make increasingly expensive, critically-acclaimed blockbusters throughout his career, and many pointed out that Nolan's view was divorced from the reality of most people who want to watch movies. "I wasn't giving any context to the frankly revolutionary nature of what Netflix has done", he said. "It's extraordinary. They need appropriate respect for that, which I have", he added. It's something Nolan has vehemently stood against. As a result, Netflix has been blacklisted from releasing its films in most major theater chains. The idea of the hallowed halls of a movie theater has long since faded into history, replaced by an overall unpleasant experience. "I have a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old and a 24-year-old at home". Netflix, meanwhile, has continued their journey towards streaming domination, with plans to spend up to $8 billion on original content for 2018. Just don't tell him you're watching it that way - he might frown.
