Greece Will Miss Suspended Kostas Manolas When They Take On Croatia”

Having billed Greece as the most awkward opponents they could draw in the World Cup playoffs, Croatia will head into the two-leg tie confident of maintaining their flawless record in the final round of qualifying for major tournaments.

Croatia were on course to qualify automatically with three games remaining in Group I but a surprise defeat to Turkey and a draw with Finland allowed Iceland to nip ahead. Both the Turks and the Ukrainians represented tough opposition in an open group, though, so second place and a spot in the play-offs is far from a disastrous situation for the Vatreni.

Greece, who finished behind Belgium in Group H, are hoping that captain Vasilis Torosidis and central defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos are fit.

A quick glance at Croatia's squad shows why they are heavy favourites to progress to Russian Federation at Greece's expense.

With midfielders of the quality of Perisic, Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Marcelo Brozovic in their ranks, and with Mario Mandzukic up front, Croatia will be expected to prevail.

We remind that Kostas Manolas will be suspended in the upcoming match against Croatia, as according to Federation Internationale de Football Association, he violated the rules of fair play at the away match against Cyprus, having picked up a yellow card on goal, in the additional time of the match.

Greece can never be written off and will make life hard for their opponents in Zabreb, but Croatia should have enough quality to win the first leg.
