Man finds kidney for wife, sets his sights higher

Now his wife has a new kidney.

The 74-year-old man who walked miles every day in a bad to find his wife a kidney finally got his wish.

Last month, Wayne Winters' dedication to finding his wife a kidney donor went viral.

His plea caught the attention of people around the world - and now his wife has a new kidney.

"'We have a kidney for you, get down here, '" Winters told the news station.

Winters said hundreds had stepped up to help after seeing his story. It's hard to know how long someone will remain on the waiting list, but waits of three years or more are not uncommon.

Winters and his wife, Deanna received the good news on Sunday, almost two years after she was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure.

"Between 7-800, it filled my phone up". Instead, the organ came from an organ donor who had passed away at the hospital.

The couple is now celebrating the approach of even more adventures added onto their 26 years of marriage.

Then on November 5, the Winters finally got that miracle phone call.

"If she can have a good five years that would be awesome".

"The sweetest people you'll ever meet are donors", Winters told Salt Lake City's Fox affiliate.

Winter's mission is far from over.

"I will spend more of my days walking with my sign to see how many I can get", he said.

Taking it one step at a time.

"Think about it we could start a kidney revolution, and that' would be so great", Wayne said.
