Wisconsin wants to lower drinking age to 19

Wisconsin wants to lower drinking age to 19”

That's according to Adam Jarchow of Balsam Lake, Mary Felzkowski of Irma, Romaine Quinn of Rice Lake, and Sen. Three state representatives are circulating the bill.

"So the way we've set up this bill is that the first thing that would have to happen is to have the federal government sign off, so that we would not lose federal highway funding", Jarchow says. "If Congress refuses to act - we will". Lawmakers in Jarchow's own party have taken the lead in efforts to curtail drunk driving.

The Republican lawmakers say in a memo seeking co-sponsors that wolves are wiping out deer, livestock and pets.

Great Lakes wolves are on the federal endangered species list, which means no one can hunt them. If the Legislature passes this bill, Congress will have no choice but to de-list the wolf in Wisconsin, just like it did for Idaho in 2011, they added. Congress responded by de-listing the wolf in Idaho.

Wisconsin already allows anyone over the age of 18 to drink in restaurants, as long as parents approve. It also prohibits the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) from using any funds for the objective of managing wolves in Wisconsin. That's an increase of about seven percent from the same time previous year.

The legal drinking age in the United Kingdom is 18, and has been for many years.
