Arctic Blast Bringing Bitter Temps on Friday

Arctic Blast Bringing Bitter Temps on Friday”

It stays cold today with highs only climbing into the upper 20s to low 30s with southeast winds mainly 10-15 miles per hour, although at times they could be stronger with gusts to 25 miles per hour through tonight. Slick spots will be possible on the roads Sunday morning.

No significant lake snow is expected to occur this morning due to a dry air mass blowing in quickly with high pressure building in from Canada. Any snow should taper by noontime at the latest.

High pressure will sit over us all weekend providing sunshine and cool temperatures.

Are you ready for winter?

Strong northwest winds will develop behind last night's cold front and continue today. Scattered rain showers, with a sharp rise in wind during the early morning.

After the cold front clears the region by 11 a.m. Friday, skies will start to clear and temperatures will start to take a tumble. The record low is 12 degrees for the Hartford area and 22 degrees for Bridgeport (both set in 1956). More clouds roll in Saturday and Monday, but afternoon highs return to the low 40s. Highs will remain in the 30s for Saturday.

On Sunday we will be watching a weak system approaching from the west. At the same time, our next disturbance will move in bringing some light rain showers as early as Saturday evening before ending near lunchtime on Sunday. Some up slope mountain minor accumulations could be possible. Stay tuned for updates over the coming days.
