BCCI condoles the sad demise of AG Milkha Singh”

AG Milkha who was a former Indian cricketer AG Milkha Singh passed away on Friday due to a cardiac arrest at a hospital in Chennai. He was 75 years old.

Although his worldwide career stretched to only four Test games during 1960s, he was a popular batsman in the Indian domestic circle. Milkha Singh has a wife and two children.

AG Milkha Singh was a left-hand batsman and a fine fielder and got his first Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 17 and played his first Test just after his 18th birthday. His nephew Arjan Kripal Singh played Ranji Trophy for Tamil Nadu and scored a triple century in a game against Goa in 1987. He scored 4324 runs and took five wickets in 88 first-class matches, but in his global career, he managed to score only 92 runs from six innings with a highest score of 35. As for India, he played 4 Tests with tally of 92 runs at 15.33.

He was also employed at State Bank of India (SBI). His elder brother, Kripal Singh, played 14 Test matches for India, and both had only one chance of playing together during India's 1961-62 tour to England.

The condolences poured in from cricket fraternity. "RIP Micky... Guru MEHR Kareh.!" tweeted the legendary left-arm spinner.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday expressed condolences on the passing away of former Test cricketer AG Milkha Singh.
