Christian Eriksen wary of James McClean during playoff

Christian Eriksen wary of James McClean during playoff”

A 1-0 victory over Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium last month saw Ireland climb above their opponents and into second spot in Group D. It was a fantastic victory that rounded off a campaign in which Martin O'Neill's men were nearly undone by their penchant for draws: although the Irish only lost one of their 10 games, a 1-0 home defeat by group winners Serbia, ties with Wales, Austria, Georgia and Serbia nearly knocked them out of the running.

Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen and James McClean of West Bromwich Albion will face each other during Denmark's 2018 World Cup playoff tie against the Republic of Ireland. They are very serious in their work business, but they also like to have fun.

"They'll be feeling very hard done by and I'm sure if we were to concede something like that, we would feel hard done by".

Despite winning the Premier League with Leicester, Schmeichel admits there's a gaping void in his footballing CV. I've been there [at a tournament] twice and want to get there a third time.

"We have missed out on recent qualifications and it's not enjoyable sitting at home watching on TV".

"That's something we want to put right".

"I've been man-marked before", said the Spurs man.

"They play defensively and have been very strong and compact, but you have good players in tough leagues, they know all about the intensity of the tough games, how to play in big matches, their strength so far have been set pieces".

"But I don't mind if they do as there will be more space for other quality players we have and we could take advantage". I understand them being favourites but I think Republic of Ireland are a pretty good price at bigger than 4/1 here.

Hareide said: "The game-plan is easy, they don't change at all". "It is the same style of play".

Asked if he'd take a draw tomorrow night, Hareide added: "As long as they don't score goals". "A zero zero would be okay; then we would have 120 minutes in Dublin to score a goal".

"But we don't speculate on that because every time we walk out here we want to win and every time we walk out for an away game we want to win".
