Kejriwal is 'a peculiar person', doesn't understand problem: Amarinder Singh”

"If the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP regime wants to tackle the smog issue, it should provide grants to farmers of Haryana to stop them from burning crop residue".

Responding to Delhi Chief Mnister Arvind Kejriwal's request for a meeting to discuss the alarming rise in the air pollution, he said, "Mr Kejriwal is a very peculiar person...he has his own viewpoints on everything without understanding the situation".

Besides farm burnings in north India, bursting of firecrackers and dusts from construction sites, and smoke emitted from vehicles were cited as the main causes of such weather condition. It can not be stopped by force. "It's an economic problem". He sent letters to both the CMs and then also put them out on Twitter in a bid to assure the people of his concern on the situation.

"More than 40-50 percent small ventures and industries have been shut down in industrial areas of Delhi, which has shaken the economy as thousands of youth working in those ventures became jobless", said Kejriwal.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the traders are on ventilators due to the ill effects of the GST levy.

"Data on crop burning and its impact should be collated and studied as to how it is impacting health and the cost of treatment for the common man. The governments must consider taking measures to protect precious lives", the CM said.

The Delhi government also issued a health advisory for high risk people, including children, the elderly, pregnant women and those suffering from asthma and heart ailments.

Sukhapal Khaira launched a protest in Ludhiana's Samrala on October 15 against the Congress government's decision to book farmers who have burnt crops. To find a solution to it, farmers need to be given equipment, which are costly. Delhi government, on its part, has initiated all emergency measures required for now, said Kejriwal citing the meeting with the LG on Wednesday.
