Little girl's stolen puppy returned by 'remorseful' thieves after appeal

Little girl's stolen puppy returned by 'remorseful' thieves after appeal”

While the Hood family was upset to find their jewelry and electronics missing, they were "devastated" when they realized the thieves took Sasha the puppy as well, reports BBC.

They were torn apart on Monday, when burglars entered a Melbourne, Australia, home and took several valuables, include an 8-week-old Labrador puppy that belonged to one of the home's residents: 4-year-old Maia. "We think that whoever took her either has a conscience or got scared and just dropped her over the fence. we don't care to be honest, we're just glad to have her back", Mr Hood told Channel Nine.

Whatever the reason, it must have been truly eating at the culprits' conscience as they opted to return to the scene of their crime just to bring Sasha back.

The little girl's dad Ryan Hood told 3AW radio, "We're not anxious about the material things, we just want the puppy back". "And then this morning, my wife got up to make herself a coffee, walked past the sliding door, and noticed that there was a figure moving by the kennel", one of the owners, Ryan Hood, told Australia's Today news programme.

Ms Sardi said the puppy had a medical condition, and the family had put up posters around the area in the hope the dog would be returned.

Although the puppy has return, the police said the investigation is going on for the recovery of the stolen items and they would look closely into the burglary incident.

The story received national coverage before the dog was found in the garden on Thursday morning.

"She's [Maia's] an only child and the only addition to the family would be a pet and we picked the dog, we picked Sasha and Sasha picked us."

The story made headlines across the country and before long the thieves chose to return the dog.

The police have appealed for further information from members of the public to help them catch the thieves. "It's hard to understand what they were thinking", Senior Constable Adam Leggo reportedly said. It's hard to understand what they were thinking, ' he said.
