Nintendo reportedly upping Nintendo Switch production next year

Nintendo reportedly upping Nintendo Switch production next year”

According to sources with "direct knowledge" speaking with the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo plans to potentially produce a whopping 25 to 30 million units during its next fiscal year (April 2018 through March 2019).

The report suggests that Nintendo boss Tatsumi Kimishima believes that the demand for the console will increase even more following the Holiday season and is waiting a bit to see what happens before deciding the final number of the console's production. If Nintendo manages to do so, it will have shipped 50 million units by April 2019, which is an impressive feat, considering one of the company's most successful home consoles, the Wii, shipped 50 million units in three years. At this moment it is hard to assure if Switch could surpass or even the sales of Wii, but it seems that Nintendo is very serious with its current platform. To put this into perspective, the Wii U sold 13.5 million units worldwide before it was discontinued.

Keep in mind that hardware sales are driven by exclusive console games. By the end of this year, Switch will receive Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
