Call Of Duty: WW2 Announces Big Changes After Launch Issues

Call Of Duty: WW2 Announces Big Changes After Launch Issues”

However, the good news is that developers are going to go back dedicated servers soon.

Call of Duty: WWII developer Sledgehammer has told fans that it intends to return to a dedicated server structure for the game at some point in the future.

While our previous Game Update which released early Friday solved several critical needs, unfortunately, it also had an adverse effect on server performance.

Following the introduction of an update last week that caused some online issues, Sledgehammer shifted the game off its dedicated servers and to a P2P setup (where gamers connect straight to one another, as opposed to all communicating with a separate server). However, we also know we've had issues, there's frustration. In addition, the Sledgehammer engineering team believes it found the issue behind disconnects resulting in lost game stats.

Call of Duty: WWII launched last week to strong sales, but there's a lot left to be desired on the technical side.

"We also want to reinforce our commitment to PC fans", the post adds.

Dedicated servers, meanwhile, are being tested in the U.S. ahead of a full roll out. Testing for data-gathering and diagnostic purposes is underway in the USA now. We've begun to test dedicated servers today in the US. Since the game released, I've yet to see a single other player in the game's online social hub, dubbed Headquarters. We'll watch this test closely, and once we analyze the results we'll look to expand.

"Our highest priority is to deliver the best online experience possible". So hang in there while we address the most pressing concerns first.

On Activision's support site, it lists the PS4 version as having an "outage" with the message, "We're now experiencing connectivity issues. We won't rest until we resolve everything we can for the community", said Sledgehammer. Regardless, the move seems to have paid off, as WWII reportedly broke $500 million in sales in its first three days on shelves.
