Australian FIs partner with eftpos network on Android Pay”

Paul Jennings, EFTPOS acting CEO said "We are thrilled to be one of the first domestic networks in the world to offer tokenization services and support Android Pay". This also means if your card or phone is lost or stolen, you can disable mobile payments without having to cancel your card. With assistance from tech partner Rambus, EFTPOS generates and manages its own tokens to allow innovations like contactless payments and real-time bank balances.

If you have an EFTPOS-only card from ANZ or any of the other Cuscal backed institutions you can now download the Android Pay app from Google Play, add your details and start tapping and paying.

Customers of ANZ and eight credit unions and banks supported by Cuscal - including People's Choice Credit Union, Sydney Credit Union, Woolworths Employee's Credit Union, CUA, Nexus Mutual, and FCCS - will be able to take advantage of the mobile payment service, the companies announced today.

While the Apple Pay and ANZ deal last month was a trailblazer, the Android Pay announcement adds two million users to the reach of EFTPOS because of Cuscal, a payment system provider for credit unions.

Your ANZ Visa card, ANZ Mastercard and ANZ eftpos card will all work with ApplePay and Android Pay meaning smartphone users can now embrace the tap and go mobile payment revolution.

"We're excited to bring the security and simplicity of mobile payments via eftpos for Android device owners in Australia".

According to Rambus, Eftpos has more than 40 million debit cards distributed across Australia, and its members can now use those cards in Android Pay for transactions with nine financial institutions. "That's why we've worked with eftpos to enable Android Pay at nearly 800,000 contactless payment terminals in Australia where people can seamlessly Tap and Pay with eftpos using their Android devices". "We provide our clients' customers choice in the way they want to pay".
