It is learnt that the Amritsar police have brought Monday's incident into the knowledge of its cyber-crime cell so as to ascertain as to who is behind the Facebook post.

Almost a month after Hindu outfit leader Vipan Sharma was shot dead, dreaded gangster and the prime accused in the murder case confessed to his crime in his alleged Facebook post and claimed that he killed the right-wing leader in Punjab's Amritsar last month. "His killing should not be linked with any religion", said the alleged Facebook post by accused Saraj Sandhu. After announcing Pakistan link to the killings, chief minister Amarinder Singh had said the ISI was working in tandem with gangsters and "cells" overseas to create unrest in the state. "We want to know whether the (Facebook) account actually belongs to the accused or somebody else is updating the posts", said the ADCP who is part of the SIT. "He must be in touch with some people", IANS quoted a police source as saying.

Justifying the killing in his Facebook post, Sandhu had claimed that it was carried out to seek revenge. "He was punished for his deeds as he had conspired in the murder of my close friend's father".

In the chilling CCTV footage obtained by the Punjab Police in connection with the case, Sandhu can be seen pumping seven bullets into Sharma.

Last week, the Punjab Police arrested Mintoo's mother Sukhraj Kaur for allegedly sheltering her son and the others involved after the crime, The Tribune reported.

In the past two years, a number of Hindu leaders have been targeted by pro-Khalistan elements trying to re-emerge in Punjab.

Last week police busted a terror module, which was being linked to the killing of Hindu leaders in the state. "Anyone who has doubts can check the police investigation records exposing his involvement", he wrote.
