NBC News Fires Talent Booker Following Harassment Claims”

News said Tuesday that an executive was sacked following a network investigation into sexual harassment allegations against him made by several women.

The executive, Matt Zimmerman, senior vice president for booking, worked in the company's news division, and was one of the top bookers of talent and guests for "Today".

NBC recently fired political contributor Mark Halperin, who had been accused of sexual harassment by several women dating to when he worked at ABC News more than a decade ago.

A wave of sexual harassment allegations have recently been lobbed against celebrities, politicians and news personalities, starting with the shocking claims against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein last month. Numerous Hollywood executives, agents and showrunners have been fired amid claims of harassment and assault.

Zimmerman had reported to former NBC News chief Deborah Turness for about three years before she was replaced by current network news head Noah Oppenheim in February.

Zimmerman was an NBC lifer, having been with NBC News he graduated in 2004 from Wake Forest University, according to his LinkedIn page. Meanwhile, the TV news business, like the entertainment industry, also is bracing for more disclosures as social media has given victims a platform and companies adopt a zero-tolerance stance toward misconduct.
