Netanyahus allegedly demanded free cigars and champagne from associates

Netanyahus allegedly demanded free cigars and champagne from associates”

In the case, widely known in Israel as "the meals-ordering affair", Sara Netanyahu and Ezra Saidoff, deputy director of the Prime Minister's Office, allegedly created a false impression between 2010 and 2013 that no cook was employed in the office prime minister's residence, while in fact there were several chefs, according to the ministry. I did not authorize that request, and she started screaming at me, telling me that I was "shaming" the Netanyahu family.

According to a Friday report by Israel's Channel 10 News, sources involved in the ongoing investigation have revealed that there is now sufficient evidence to charge Netanyahu and his wife with bribery for accepting tens of thousands of dollars worth of gifts from well-heeled business associates.

In her testimony, Ms. Klein told police that the gifts were requested by the Netanyahus. At the same time, she mentioned no payment whatsoever received by Milchan for what he supplied, which is making it hard for the investigators to establish a give and take relationship in the affair. Mrs. Netanyahu "would request crates of 6 or 12 bottles of champagne, and the Prime Minister would request cigars". He also knew about the champagne requests. "The company driver made a special trip to Jerusalem to supply the cigars and champagne".

Klein also gave the investigators examples of other extraordinary requests, including one by Sara Netanyahu to fix a leak in the prime minister's home. "Sara shouted at me".

"I didn't OK it, and then she yelled that I and Milchan were humiliating her and Bibi [Benjamin Netanyahu's nickname], that we weren't approving things ..." Mr. Netanyahu wanted an inspector who worked on projects belonging to Milchan and Packer. "Bibi called himself and said it wasn't right. that they need to understand what she's going through with the media [which the Netanyahus accuse of persecution], and that they had gotten legal advice and it's all permissible". Klein said, "Every time she asked for something, she wanted to speak only on a landline or in a face-to-face meeting".

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Netanyahus said that the Prime Minister "is very confident, and apparently someone else is getting nervous, because the stream of fake news continues unabated".

An ongoing Israeli law enforcement investigation now has enough evidence to bring formal charges of bribery against the country's prime minister, according to reports. "The prime minister and his wife acted lawfully, so there will be nothing". "Furthermore, we do not intend to comment on the particulars of the investigation that refute the false report".

Klein's communications adviser refused to confirm or deny details of her testimony since the investigation is still underway.
