Red Kettle Campaign kicks off November 17”

"Many families are still finding it almost impossible to stay afloat financially, and we've seen it firsthand in the increasing number of New Jersey residents who come to us for help", says Major Ivan K. Rock, State Commander of The Salvation Army in New Jersey.

"The money raised in the Red Kettles creates a year of hope for families and individuals in need", said Maj. You can also apply to receive toys from The Salvation Army Corps Community Centers' toy shops for children up to age 14.

Assistance for families up to six includes a box of non-perishable food to prepare a holiday meal and a grocery gift card to purchase fresh foods at.

The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program makes sure that gifts are given to children and seniors who would not otherwise have presents under the tree on Christmas morning.

The Salvation Army is also hosting a Thanksgiving Day Community Meal on November 23 from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m.at the Salvation Army Chesapeake Energy Center of Hope, located at 1001 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

The Red Kettle campaign ends on December 23 with kettles in eight locations around town. Thousands of Salvation Army bell-ringers fan out across the country to ring bells and solicit donations to the iconic Red Kettles from holiday shoppers.
