Taylor Swift's 'Ready for It': Singer announces stadium tour

Taylor Swift's 'Ready for It': Singer announces stadium tour”

Taylor Swift's new album "Reputation" has sold more than one million copies in its first five days, Nielsen Music said on Tuesday, but the USA pop star failed to beat the record set by Britain's Adele two years ago. It's the first album to sell a million copies in a tracking week in almost two years, since Adele's 25 sold 1.16 million copies in the frame ending December 25, 2015 (the album's fifth week on sale). Experts think that number may even double by the end of the week.

This will be Taylor's fourth album with a million-selling week - and likely her best sales week to date. And last week's top seller was Sam Smith's "The Thrill of it All", which clocked up 185,000 sales (outside of streaming).

So basically, when it comes to burning up the Billboard album charts, Taylor Swift is mainly in competition with herself.

Swift also appeared on Monday's edition of "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" to play "Reputation" closer "New Year's Day". 1989 debuted with 1.29 million sold in its first week in 2014.

Swift this week announced the first USA dates of what is expected to be a world tour to promote the album.
