Trump at APEC summit: "I am always going to put America first"

Trump at APEC summit:

Xi held bilateral talks with his counterpart Nguyen Phu Trong, the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. His day ended with a banquet hosted by Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang.

Beijing was responding to the deadly violence against Chinese nationals in the country.

"Economic restructuring does not have to come at the expense of employment", Xi said.

Xi said that the two countries should properly manage differences, protect maritime peace and stability, and promote joint exploitation.

China has been Vietnam's biggest trading partner for 13 consecutive years, while Vietnam is China's largest trading partner within Southeast Asia.

Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony on what was his first overseas trip since being re-elected as General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee.

"China will open still wider and its development will deliver even greater benefits to the rest of the world", Xi told the APEC leaders.

Consolidating and strengthening the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is in the fundamental interest of the two countries and two peoples, and is conducive to regional and global peace and stability, Quang said.

As Beijing evacuated thousands of Chinese nationals from Vietnam, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Sunday China will suspend bilateral exchanges with the country.

During his speech at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vietnam, US President Donald Trump accused the region's nations of taking advantage of US economy and stressed that he intends to put an end to "cheating" and "economic aggression".
