Muse is a simple dedicated Amazon Alexa add-on for the auto

Muse is a simple dedicated Amazon Alexa add-on for the auto”

San Francisco-based Speak Music, the company behind the Melody personal music assistant, this morning announced a new $50 device called Muse that relies on the user's smartphone data connection to connect to Amazon's voice-enabled assistant, and links to vehicle stereo and entertainment systems via Bluetooth, USB or AUX input. You now have a few options, including a new $49.99 accessory from voice tech company Speak Music, which is launching Muse, essentially a Bluetooth-enabled Amazon Echo for the auto. Nissan is working on bringing Alexa into its cars as well. It's described as the "first pure Amazon Alexa-enabled device for your car" - and it costs just $49.99. Unlike the windshield-mounted Garmin Speak device, the Muse is created to mount on the dashboard or center console. It also supports hands-free calling and allows you to interact with Alexa devices at home. The small device allows you to access Alexa skills while on the go, using voice commands and the "Alexa" wake word, while connecting to your in-car stereo system via Bluetooth, aux input or USB. All you need is an iPhone or Android device with a data plan, as well as an audio input if you don't plan on using Bluetooth to connect Muse to your auto.

So, while you're driving, with your eyes on the road, you can lock your doors at home, close the garage, shut off the coffee pot, adjust your thermostat, and more. On many tech equipped vehicles, Muse will take advantage of the car's multimedia system to advance songs with your steering wheel controls and displays "Now Playing Information" provided by Alexa such as album art and weather images.

"We are incredibly excited to bring Muse with Amazon Alexa to cars", said Zak Mandhro, Co-Founder & CTO of Speak Music.

Muse is now available at discounted rates through an Indiegogo campaign. Founded by executives from Google, Ericsson and Zynga, Speak Music is on a mission to create technology that simplifies how people discover and consume entertainment by using voice technology over cellular connection and Bluetooth.
