Razer's new mechanical gaming keyboard is water and dust resistant

Razer's new mechanical gaming keyboard is water and dust resistant”

The BlackWidow Ultimate has an IP54 rating for protecting against water spillage and dust particles.

While water resistant keyboards aren't a new concept, they have received an increasing amount of attention lately with SteelSeries' Apex 150 and Razer's Cynosa Chroma. The problem with most keyboards is that once you get them wet or get lots of debris inside, they tend to not work well. While the rating doesn't mean you can dunk the keyboard in the pool (you'd want IP67 or better for that), it's good enough that your gaming session won't be ruined by a splash or two.

It can be hard keeping track of Razer's growing number of keyboards, many of which are mechanical and some of which have customizable RGB (or "Chroma", as Razer calls it) lighting, and yet others are tenkeyless (no dedicated number pad). Aside from the new water and dust resistance, the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate retains all the features of the previous models including programmable green LED lighting, Razer Green switches, fully programmable keys, and more. The lights can be programed to offer Wave, Ripple, Reactive, Starlight, and other patterns. With a rated lifespan of up to 80 million keystrokes, the Razer Mechanical Switch is engineered for durability and reliably delivers top performance with every key press. Of course, it also comes with the traditional backlit keys and the Razer Mechanical Switches.

"We've never stopped making improvements to our gaming keyboards", says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder, and CEO. But thanks to the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate's resistance to both water and dust, you can game with confidence, minus the damage.
