Starcraft 2 Now Free To Play

Starcraft 2 Now Free To Play”

The solo campaign for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will continue the epic saga where it left off in StarCraft: Brood War. Several challenge-mode mini-games will also be included, with focused goals created to ease players into the basics of multiplayer strategies.

Starting today, players can pick up the award-winning Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty for the low, low price of free.

Blizzard also described how they have a 'catalog of content for people ... if they came in from free-to-play'.

The original Wings of Liberty campaign.

Starcraft II is available for both Windows and Mac, but before you can get it, you'll need a Blizzard Battle.net account.

Aside from the excellent Wings of Liberty campaign, the other big thing here is free access to the ranked multiplayer ladder.

If you wil 10 First Wins of the Day in Unranked or Versus AI, you'll unlock ranked multiplayer.

Meanwhile, you can play co-op mode, with free co-op commanders up to level 5 - and that includes Terran commander combo Mira Han and Matt Horner, who are debuting today as part of the free-to-play launch. You'll be able to tackle these extra challenging missions with your friends right away.

If you miss getting Heart of the Swarm for free, no worries! You can purchase all of the other campaigns, including the Nova Covert Ops missions, for $15 each. In order to qualify, you'll need to have purchased Wings of Liberty prior to October 31, 2017. All of the balance updates and co-op commanders from the latest release, Legacy of the Void, will also carry over. You will also gain access to all three episodes' units.

As promised a couple weeks back, Blizzard's classic, beloved real-time strategy game Starcraft II is now free to play.

However the other expansions and DLC will still be available for purchase in a bundle, should a player so wish to purchase it. Players who have purchased any of the three campaigns already should be pleased to find they will not go unrewarded, with it being announced that should a player already own Wings of the Liberty, they will be compensated with Hearts of the Swarm.
