Eating Cheese Every Day May Actually Be Good for You

Eating Cheese Every Day May Actually Be Good for You”

New research conducted by Chinese University, Soochow, has shown that people who consume 40 grams of cheese per day have less chance of developing certain heart diseases.

The 15 studies, which included 200,000 participants, were selected for analysis based on meeting the following criteria: the study design was prospective; the exposure of interest was cheese consumption; the outcome of interest was fatal/nonfatal CVD, CHD, or stroke; and RRs (relative risk) with corresponding 95% Cis (confidence interval) were reported or could be estimated. Researchers suggest that 40 grams (a bite, or two slices) daily is the magic amount of lactose to keep those heart muscles strong. Authors of the report state that basically, the high calcium levels (good) in cheese act to block some of the saturated fats (bad) in the delicious dairy product, balancing out the nutritional value ratio. The Cheese particularly helps to prevent from cardiovascular diseases, the study further clarified.

The researchers' findings were "certainly different from what people might expect", says Dr. Allan Stewart, director of aortic surgery at Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center, who was not involved in the new analysis. But the benefits outweigh the bad when it comes to cheese.

The relationship, however, was U-shaped rather than linear-meaning that higher quantities of cheese were not necessarily better.

Cheese contains saturated fatty acids but also has potentially beneficial nutrients.which means that although it is high in fat, less of that fat is absorbed by the body.

The link between cheese and lowered heart disease risks might be because people who eat cheese every day are already healthier, or have enough income to afford the habit, the researchers point out. "But on the upside, a bit of cheese on a cracker doesn't sound unreasonable", Stewart said.
