Alec Baldwin rips Oliver, Colbert for turning talk shows into 'grand juries'”

On Wednesday, Baldwin chided late night hosts John Oliver and Stephen Colbert - of Last Week With John Oliver and Late Night with Stephen Colbert, respectively - of turning their programs into "grand juries".

Just a month after the actor quit his personal Twitter account because of the overwhelming negative reception to his comments on accusers who accept settlements, Baldwin told Megyn Kelly on Thursday's edition of Megyn Kelly Today that he doesn't want to see innocent people "get hurt".

Alec Baldwin disapproved of John Oliver's grilling of Dustin Hoffman. "They think the people that host most of those shows are perfectly-not only within their rights, but that it's very attractive or very necessary for them to be pressing this cause".

The Golden Globe-winning actor's comments come after Oliver on Monday confronted actor Dustin Hoffman over sexual misconduct allegations while at a film festival discussion panel. "But I don't want to see other people get pulled into that... there's a lot of accusations with no proof", he qualified. "I don't want to see people get hurt".

"For me what's different, is that what's odd, yes there are people, this is no excuse, but 40 years ago there was a kind of way that people had, a kind of sexualized byplay, a kind of fooling around that was wrong", Baldwin explained.

"You look back and you say it was wrong then. From a few things you've read you've made an incredible assumption about me".

Kelly chimed in to say women were in submissive positions years ago.

"We need to have more understanding of where, how we treat people", Baldwin said, concluding his remarks on the subject. Now, Baldwin added, "that's collateral damage". Baldwin said he had not seen much of Toback lately but condemned "anyone who is guilty of this kind of predatory behavior".
