Ed Sheeran receives MBE from Prince Charles

Ed Sheeran receives MBE from Prince Charles”

The 26-year-old accepted an MBE from Prince Charles earlier today and looked very dapper in a blue-fitted suit.

Prince Harry wasn't the only red head to grace Buckingham Palace overnight, with Ed Sheeran making an appearance at the royal headquarters.

"Fans were quick to praise the star, with one writing: "@edsheeran deserves this award and so much more for everything he does to make this world a better place", while another added: "Congratulations Ed Sheeran picked up his MBE from Prince Charles for his music and charity work".

It's been quite a 2017 for the Suffolk-raised singer-songwriter, headlining Glastonbury in June following the all-conquering chart success of his third studio album Divide, which was released back in March, and was named the most-streamed artist on Spotify of the year.

The account for the official residence of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also shared Sheeran's reaction to the honor, in which he remembered his late grandfather.

Sheeran said about their brief chat: 'He was asking me if I was still selling lots of records and I told him I've got a concert in NY tomorrow, and he was quite surprised I was flying after this'.

Double Grammy victor Ed, from Suffolk, remained modest about his achievements saying he didn't have "vast talent" compared to other artists but his "persistence, drive and self belief" had paid off. I don't have a vast amount of talent compared to other people.

The Londoner has won a Grammy Award and has a number of chart topping singles to his name. "I think it's persistence".
