Facebook's 2017 Year In Review | Facebook Newsroom”

(CNN) - This, indeed, was the year of the woman. In response, millions of people took to the streets the following day for the Women's March in cities worldwide.

It's only fitting then that the biggest topic on the biggest social network this year was International Women's Day.

There's no doubt that 2017 was a roller coaster of a year, and Facebook says its users generated the most chatter about International Women's Day, Super Bowl 51 and the Las Vegas mass shooting while also coming together to give back in times of crisis.

First, people came together to react and talk about important moments and events that happened around the world.

"This was the No. 1 most talked-about moment in 2017, doubling from past year, with people around the world talking, sharing and posting in celebration of women and related issues", the social network said.

Lady Gaga's Bad Romance performance was the most-loved moment of the Super Bowl game this year. To select its top "moments", the site first looked at data from January 1 to November 1, 2017, to determine the moments with the highest volume of keywords on any single day, and then among those, selected the ones that saw high increases from last year to this year.

Total Solar Eclipse: This celestial moment in August brought the world together through more than 20,000 Facebook Events in more than 80 countries.

It's worth noting that unlike previous Year in Review rankings, this year's rankings didn't consider the cumulative discussion of topics over the whole year, but rather those most talked about on a single day.

"You made 414 new Facebook friends in 2017". This video includes moments from the past year that they shared or been tagged in, and compiles them in a short video that can be edited and shared.

The national strike movement, "A Day Without a Woman" on Wednesday coincides with International Women's Day. The volume of conversation around the celebration doubled from 2016 to 2017, according to Facebook's stats.

More than 165 million people generated more than 430 million interactions around the world related to Women's Day.

Finally, people used Facebook to get together in person. International Women's Day was a more global event.

Facebook also revealed a number of other events that had the world talking, listing the rest in no particular order. So some mystery remains.

The concert was the most viewed video and live broadcast on Facebook for the year with over 80 million video views.
