NBA Trade: Sixers reportedly send Jahlil Okafor, Stauskas to Nets for Booker

NBA Trade: Sixers reportedly send Jahlil Okafor, Stauskas to Nets for Booker”

According to multiple reports, much-maligned forward Jahlil Okafor is finally getting his wish to leave Philadelphia.

Okafor was the third overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, first-team All-NBA Rookie team, but that's disappeared into the distance.

The Philadelphia 76ers are trading the 21-year-old center to the Brooklyn Nets, per ESPN's Zach Lowe.

Okafor has played in only two games for the 76ers this season and has seen his minutes dwindle as his career has progressed. Stauskas, a former lottery pick himself, has fallen out of head coach Brett Brown's rotation this season after the addition of J.J. Redick, health of Jerryd Bayless and improvement of players like Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot.

Both Stauskas and Okafor will be free agents at the end of the 2017-18 season. Shams Charania of The Vertical confirmed the deal, and included that the Sixers will get veteran big man Trevor Booker back in return.

After averaging 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a rookie while starting 48 of the 53 games he played in, he was demoted to a bench role behind Joel Embiid last season.
