Brazil great Kaka retiring from soccer at age 35”

Ricardo Kaka, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002 and FIFA's World Player of the Year in 2007, announced his retirement from the game on Sunday. "Now, there are people who believe I am already ready".

Kaka will be remembered as being one of the elite Brazilian players that wowed the crowds and his list of silverware - both team and indvidual (including the Ballon d'Or) will strengthen that argument.

The languid playmaker quickly became a favourite of the Rossoneri faithful, helping them to the Serie A title in his maiden season in Italy and going on to score 101 goals in 287 appearances in all competitions across two spells for the club.

During those meetings, there was talk of him being offered a director's role, but he did not commit at that time due to uncertainty over whether he would continue playing.

The 2007 Ballon d'Or victor confirmed that he would not renew his contract at MLS side Orlando City in October.

And no sooner had Kaka taken to social media to make the announcement, than the tributes started pouring in for the Brazilian ace.

"I prepared a lot to be a professional player, and I want to prepare for this new role, I want to see a little outside". I would like to work at a club as a manager, a sporting director or in a role that combines things on the pitch and the club. "I have arrived to the conclusion that now is the moment to finish my career as a professional player". So I want to prepare myself for this from now on, to study, to follow, to be closer to some clubs, principally those at which I played.

His four seasons in the Spanish capital were ravaged by injury, before returning to Milan in 2013 for one season, before finishing up his career Stateside with the newly formed Orlando City.
