Catt Sadler leaving E! News over gender-pay dispute

Catt Sadler leaving E! News over gender-pay dispute”

Sadler's former "E! News" co-anchor Jason Kennedy.

Catt Sadler the longtime host on the E! channel said she will leave the company because of a huge pay disparity. News. She told People the decision to leave her "dream job" required "a lot of soul-searching", but that she felt she had no option but to leave. "In fact, he was making close to double my salary for the past several years", she wrote.

".Then, this year happened". Hosting a live, two-hour daytime show while also hosting E News most nights.

After a farewell broadcast, she published her blog post, describing "a massive disparity in pay between my similarly situated male co-host and myself". News left the network due to a sizable wage disparity with her male on-air colleague. "He has been such a champion for me in every sense", she writes.

We don't blame Sadler for becoming exasperated by this news as she has certainly taken on more responsibility at the network.

E!, an entertainment cable channel owned by NBCUniversal, disputed Sadler's suggestion that the gender pay gap was an issue in this case. And well, I learned this first hand. My team and I asked for what I know I deserve and were denied repeatedly.

While Sadler didn't name him, Jason Kennedy was her co-host on "E!" He is like a brother to me.

"How can I operate with integrity and stay on at E if they're not willing to pay me the same as him?"

"It's important that people don't vilify him because he isn't the problem - the system's the problem, the structure's the problem", she says.

'I'm reading every single message. "But it's not his decision".

Catt Sadler has confirmed that she left E!

While Catt doesn't WANT to leave E!, she shared that learning this information has forced her to become "an agent of change".

Sadler had worked for E! since 2006, and had hosted "Daily Pop" since it launched earlier this year.

"It's like I now feel inspired and empowered by these women before me who refused to be silent".

She wrote, "How can we make it better for the next generation of girls if we do not stand for what is fair and just today?". Doesn't seem that way looking at the social media reaction to Sadler's departure.

Sadler does not appear to have another job lined up just yet, and she said facing "the unknown can be terrifying, but it can also be the most handsome gift".

They said in a statement: "E! compensates employees fairly and appropriately based on their roles, regardless of gender".
