YouTube for iOS finally supports vertical videos

YouTube has been planning on making a change to support vertical videos. With an increasing number of vertical videos being uploaded to YouTube, it only makes sense for the app to get updated to display things properly. These incorporate recordings that are square-molded and in other perspective proportions like 16:9 and 4:9. The official YouTube Twitter handle tweeted, on Tuesday, that the feature has started rolling out for iOS. This dynamically adapting video player is now beginning to rollout for the latter platform. As of today, the update available for YouTube will enable iOS phones to support and play vertical videos. The new YouTube player will powerfully adjust for square, even, and vertical recordings. YouTube gave its Android app the ability to display these videos in the same way that they were shot two years ago, but iOS users have had to put up with portrait format videos reduced in size and converted into landscape ones with the black bars filling up the blank space.

By scrolling down, users are able to shrink any window to the traditional horizontal shape so that they can browse videos and read comments unimpeded by the video player. For YouTube's Android and iOS users, that wasn't the case, which meant having a video shrouded by big dark bars. Most people watch videos on their mobile devices now, so videos recorded vertically simply fill the screen...if the app supports that. The foreseen rollout of the new unique player is required to settle this issue.
