Arsenal table cut-price bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema

Arsenal table cut-price bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema”

The French striker has had a frustrating season for the World and European Champions so far.

Real Madrid will have a huge decision at hand come January, with Arsenal not prepared to go above €40 million in their pursuit of Karim Benzema.

Considering Benzema's barren run in front of goal this season, Arsenal are ready to shell out just €40 million. Despite the Frenchman signing a 2-year contract extension in September that would keep him at the club till 2021, Perez is determined to bolster his front-line and get the 30-year-old off the books to make way for a Galactico signing.

The Gunners find themselves sixth in the Premier League table at the time of writing, four points off Liverpool who now occupy the fourth spot. In order to spend the money, he must generate it by selling some players. Reports even claim that the Arsene Wenger-managed side is set to sell him for as cheap as £35 million, with Manchester City being the primary suitors for the player.

Arsenal are the only club to have made an offer to Real for the striker.

The duo have both been heavily linked with moves away from North London, and it is little surprise that manager Arsene Wenger is in the market for an equally talented replacement.

A report in ABC outlines how Benzema will be selected in the forthcoming games against Celta Vigo (Copa del Rey) and Villarreal (La Liga) due to his previous achievements, yet if his form does not improve he will be dropped.

But a chance to lead the Gunners to success may well tempt Benzema into finally moving to the Emirates.
