Apple slashes price of slow iPhone battery swap earlier than expected

Apple slashes price of slow iPhone battery swap earlier than expected”

In a posting on its website, Apple apologized over its handling of the battery issue and said it would make a number of changes for customers "to recognize their loyalty and to regain the trust of anyone who may have doubted Apple's intentions". Instead, it is offering a new (normally priced $79.99) battery at a discount: $29.99, $50 less than usual cost. As batteries get older, they don't hold their charges as well as newer batteries, and can have worse problems when the charge is low or the temperature is cold. Apple says it did that to prevent those iPhones from shutting down unexpectedly.

The company slowed down the performance of older models because the lithium-ion batteries' performance diminishes over time. As noted by Telegraph, following given are a few questions that you must ask yourself before settling on any one smartphone. "We apologize", reads the company blog post titled "A Message to Our Customers about iPhone Batteries and Performance". "Maybe this will serve as a positive lesson to Apple about the value of openness and transparency - things it has long lacked". Keep in mind that this will take more time.

But Apple ended the wait for the customers sooner than promised, The Verge reported on Saturday.

Taiwanese newspaper Economic Daily said it believed Apple reduced its forecast for iPhone sales in Q1, citing "unidentified supply chain officials", according to Bloomberg. In response to the company's statement that it would never degrade performance to drive replacement purchases, one user on Apple's support forums yesterday wrote, "You mean like making it very difficult for people of average technical skill nearly impossible to replace the battery and not using a generic battery form factor?"

Rough road: JB Hunt Transportation Services slid 2.1 percent to $113.01 Thursday after the trucking company issued a disappointing fourth-quarter profit forecast.

While no credible evidence has ever emerged that Apple engaged in such conduct, the battery disclosure struck a nerve on social media and elsewhere.

Apple has announced that its discounted iPhone battery replacement program will go into effect immediately.

The United States is still the only developed country on the planet - and just one of a handful overall - that doesn't guarantee paid maternity leave.
