NTSB To Assist In Costa Rica Plane Crash Investigation”

They said Nature Air had provided a passenger list, but the names on it had not been confirmed.

"The government of Costa Rica profoundly regrets the deaths of 10 USA passengers and two Costa Rican pilots in the air accident", which occurred in the country's northwestern Guanacaste region, Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis said in a statement posted to social media.

In all, 10 tourists, all United States citizens, and two local crew members died in the crash on Sunday in Guanacaste.

Representatives from Cessna are expected to arrive in Costa Rica on Wednesday.

Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis Rivera offered his condolences to the families of the victims via Twitter and said the cause of the crash would be investigated.

Mitchell and Leslie Weiss were also onboard with their teenage son and daughter. "They'll be surely missed, and we still are trying to deal with understanding such a loss".

Costa Rican investigators are looking into what caused a charter aircraft to crash in woods in the country's north west soon after takeoff, killing the 10 U.S. citizens and two local crew members on board. "This tragedy hits our community very hard", Blake wrote.

Rabbi Jonathan Blake, of the Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale, said in a statement posted on the temple's Facebook page that the Steinbergs were involved in philanthropy and local Jewish groups.

Aviation officials said before picking up passengers for the flight, the pilot had a problem.

Civil Aviation director Enio Cubillo says his USA counterparts and representatives from Cessna are expected to arrive Wednesday.

Authorities are working to determine whether strong winds or some sort of mechanical failure was responsible for the crash.
