Texans' JJ Watt (knee) on track for training camp

Texans' JJ Watt (knee) on track for training camp”

"I'm very excited. It's a new year, obviously".

Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt (knee) said he is on track to return for training camp. After the 2017 first-round draft pick injured his knee during practice November 2, Houston won one game the rest of the season.

"He's been here every day, working hard to get better and I believe he's ahead of schedule". I get to run again in a little while. But, my assumption is that it shouldn't be any problem, but if it needs a couple extra weeks, whatever, we'll take it.

Watt said he does not know if he will be back for the Texans' organized team activities that go from mid-April to mid-June.

"All of us in rehab, we're all looking ahead to 2018", Watt says. J.J. Watt appeared in five games before a leg injury knocked him out for the season as well.

Before the injury, Watson was coming off earning AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October.

"Exactly what he could do in OTAs, I wouldn't be able to tell you that now, but I do think there's a chance that he could be out there during OTAs doing something".

The three-time National Football League defensive player of the year underwent surgery following his tibial plateau fracture sustained in the Texans' 42-34 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in October.

"[I'm] disappointed by it, but not going to let it define who I am or what I'm about".
