Justin Bieber museum exhibit to open in Stratford

Justin Bieber museum exhibit to open in Stratford”

If you want to see (and possibly smell) Justin Bieber's old sneakers and hockey bags, you better Belieb it's now possible because a museum in his hometown of Stratford, Ontario is opening an exhibit in his honor next month.

The exhibit is called Steps to Stardom - a nod to the fact Bieber started out busking on the steps of Stratford's Avon Theatre as a boy, "and the idea of it is to cover that period of his life", Kastner said.

The museum's general manager, John Kastner, says organizers worked with Bieber's grandparents, Diane and Bruce Dale, to curate a selection of items to be featured.

Among the items fans will be able to check out include Bieber's bag and jacket from his time with the Stratford Warriors in junior league hockey, his Grammy, Emmy and Teen Choice awards, and the platinum record for his debut album, My World.

"I was in line for coffee at Tim Hortons and who's in front of me but Justin - all by himself, friendly and gracious as could be", Kastner said.

It will be one of the largest collections at the museum, with 50 to 75 pieces on display. In addition, residents of Stratford, Bieber's hometown, have donated items from the pop star's childhood that might now be considered invaluable. Or shoes that Bieber has worn running.

Kastner says Bieber was extremely kind and appreciative that the museum was going an exhibit.

The plans were put in place last summer when Conservative MP Peter Van Loan, the heritage critic for his party, visited the museum with his family and noted there was no acknowledgment of Bieber's history in the city.

The museum's organizers are hoping that the "Steps to Stardom" exhibit appeals to Bieber's loyal fan base.
