Donald Trump: China not helpful enough on North Korea

Donald Trump: China not helpful enough on North Koreaā€¯

President Trump deserves "big credit" for kicking off the first talks between Pyongyang and Seoul in more than two years, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Wednesday.

Trump and Moon agreed the fresh inter-Korean dialogue is not limited to the Games but could eventually lead to dialogue between the United States and North Korea on ridding the Korean Peninsula of nuclear weapons, Moon's office said.

The relationship between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has featured persistent threats and personal attacks over the course of the past year as North Korea has continued to engage in missile tests.

Trump said the stop-and-go nature to his strategy with North Korea is intentional and part of a broader goal. A lot of good energy...

Concern is rising in Seoul that sanctions could be violated during North Korea's attendance at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, after the two sides agreed Friday to hold working-level talks on Monday.

South Korea had been campaigning for its infamous peninsula partner to attend the Winter Olympics in an apparent effort to reconcile differences, or at least calm concerns regarding the North's global disputes over missile launches and nuclear weapons.

The Russian president insisted the only way to resolve tensions in Korean peninsula region is through dialogue.

The only reason the United States or the UN Security Council pay even remote attention to North Korea and its portly dictator is because the isolated and poverty-stricken "Hermit Kingdom" is constantly improving upon its ballistic missile and nuclear weapons programs.

The United Nations began imposing sanctions on North Korea in 2006, but tougher measures were invoked in 2017 as tensions flared anew over the country's nuclear and missile programs. That was followed by the postponement of USA -led military exercises in the region with South Korea.

China sees the Trump administration's discussion of military options as a psychological game to force Beijing and Moscow to maintain pressure on Pyongyang, but they were making crisis preparations just in case, Zhao said.

He claimed that although much of the massive arsenal North Korea built after 1953 is obsolete, 1,000 fighter jets could be redeployed as Kamikaze aircraft loaded with bombs. -South Korean alliance, the party warned. The North said its delegation would comprise athletes, high-ranking officials, a cheering squad, art performers as well as reporters and spectators.

"At a minimum, he thinks that warning the Chinese about a preemptive strike would motivate Beijing to force Kim to shut down the programs that threaten the USA", the official said.
