Euro NCAP tests find the Volvo XC60 to be the safest”

Scoring high marks in nearly every category is the all-new Volvo XC60.

The near-perfect score (98 percent) in the adult occupant category speaks volumes about how much thought Volvo gave to making the second-generation crossover as safe as possible.

Volvo Cars' XC60 has been crowned the best performing large off-roader, and the auto with the best overall performance of 2017 in the prestigious Euro NCAP 2017 Best in Class safety awards.

Euro NCAP has outlined the safest cars it tested in 2017, from nearly 70 models assessed in a record year for new model launches. The posh SUV was crowned the safest of them all, with nearly flawless scores in two main categories - 98% in the Adult Occupant area and 95% when discussing Safety Assist.

"Our vision is that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo vehicle".

Michiel van Ratingen, secretary general of Euro NCAP, said: "It is encouraging to see so many new cars performing so well in all areas of safety, and being equipped with greater and greater levels of life-saving technology".

"Our vision is that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo vehicle", said Malin Ekholm. "The achievements of the XC60 are examples of our commitment to developing the latest safety and support systems as we strive towards that vision".
