MI assistant turning down Alabama job

According to a new report from ESPN's Tom VanHaaren, Partridge has turned down the 'Bama offer, though he could have other offers on the table.

Yes, you read that right.

The term "shocker" is oftentimes overused in sports analysis but in this case, it fits perfectly.

Earlier today, it was reported that MI linebackers coach Chris Partridge was a candidate for an assistant coaching position at Alabama. He's also known as a great recruiter, having won "recruiter of the year" from in 2016 and 247Sports in 2017.

The Wolverines outside linebacker coach and special teams coordinator has been in Ann Arbor for two seasons.

The Crimson Tide won't be poaching the MI assistant.

Partridge, a former New Jersey high school coach, has been at MI since 2015 and has been the team's linebackers and special teams coach the last two seasons. That, or he really feels loyal to MI, which plucked him out from the high school ranks and has helped him ascend to the big-time assistant radar at the college level.

Three SEC East head coaches were once Saban assistants and a slew of other assistant coaches have gone on to land better jobs after spending time on Saban's staff, such as Mario Cristobal, now the head coach at OR, OR Lane Kififn, now the head coach at Florida Atlantic.
