PDP MLA calls Kashmiri militants 'our brothers', wants dialogues with them

PDP MLA calls Kashmiri militants 'our brothers', wants dialogues with them”

The PDP MLA's statement comes a day after he had asked legislators in the J&K Assembly not to express happiness over the killing of militants as they too were "brothers". "This is our collective failure".

On further questions from the reporters asking him whether he actually feels the militants are martyrs, Mir said, "Jo Kashmir ke hein, chahey kisi bhi halat mein marein, woh martyr hein (Those who hail from Kashmir are martyrs irrespective of the fact under what circumstances they get killed)".

"This house has to end the blame game over the killings", he said, and stressed that the Centre's special representative, Dineshwar Sharma should take the militants on board during dialogues. Speaking to the media outside the Jammu and Kashmir assembly, the PDP leader added that people should sympathise with parents of the martyred.

"It is the PDP MLA who has said this". If you have noticed we haven't put up a paywall unlike many news organisations, - as we want to keep our journalism open.

Opposition parties as well PDP ally BJP latched onto the statement and slammed Mir for his remarks. "My effort is that the local militants should get back", Mehbooba said.

Asked about the recent incident when militants hurled a grenade on his residence, the PDP MLA said, "we believe in India and they believe in something else that is why I was attacked".

The Legislator said, "they are our own children".

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has been witnessing ruckus over several issues in the last few days. "People are waiting for the answer", he added.

"Whether the BJP believes that the militants are their brothers and sisters?"

BJP reacted sharply to Pir's comments. In a stinging response, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "Terrorists and separatists are enemies of Kashmir, Kashmiris, development and peace".
