UAE Denies Violating Qatar Airspace”

Qatar has filed a complaint to the United Nations about an alleged violation of its airspace in December by an Emirati military aircraft, state news agency QNA reported on Friday.

Qatar's representative to the UN, Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, said that the breach on December 21 previous year lasted for one minute at a height of 33,000 feet above Qatar's exclusive economic zone.

"The Qatari complaint about the Emirati violation of its airspace is untrue and confused", Gargash said on Twitter.

"She considered that the incident was a flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the State of Qatar, as well as a flagrant violation of the provisions of worldwide law, conventions, charters and global norms".

The UAE quickly denied the accusation.

The letter also stated that the violation was in breach of global law, and took place in the context of "irresponsible and provocative" actions by the UAE against Qatar.

"We are working on responding to that officially with proof and evidence", he said. "Everything that used to happen under the table is now in the open", he continued.

The UAE and its fellow Gulf states, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt, have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar in June 2017, accusing Doha of supporting "extremism and terrorism".
