WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's poor hygiene reportedly sparked complaints at Ecuador Embassy

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's poor hygiene reportedly sparked complaints at Ecuador Embassy”

The whiff of controversy has long surrounded WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, but, according to a new report, he just reeks.

And it's not the first time people around him have complained of Assange's questionable hygiene practices.

One source commented: "It seems that he does not wash properly".

Former Wikileaks colleague Jérémie Zimmermann said after visiting him at the embassy that "he might not change his clothes for days".

"Julian ate everything with his hands and he always wiped his fingers on his trousers. I have never seen trousers as greasy as his in my whole life", one of his closest aides, Daniel Domscheit-Berg, told IBT.

The WikiLeaks founder was made an Ecuadorean citizen last month, the nation's foreign minister revealed Thursday, in a bid to resolve the diplomatic impasse created by Assange's presence.

The UK Foreign Office reportedly rejected a request from Quito to grant the whistle-blower diplomatic status.

It came after the United Kingdom rejected a request that Assange be given diplomatic immunity so he could freely leave the embassy.

It is still no guarantee, however Assange has been living inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012, when he was accused of sexual assault in Sweden. He added that Assange will not leave Ecuador's embassy while there are no security guarantees.

Despite the fact Swedish authorities have since dropped their questioning the British police have said that if Assange should leave the embassy he would be arrested for a breach of bail conditions.

When Julian Assange, mastermind behind Wikileaks, leaked tens of thousands of classified documents revealing the U.S. government's false and misleading information about its war in Afghanistan his life has been in jeopardy. She however did not provide an explanation of how Assange's new citizenship would help him escape the embassy.
