CPI(M) MLA KK Ramachandran passes away”

Kerala MLA K.K. Ramachandran Nair passed away in Chennai on Sunday.

The 65-year-old first-time legislator was ailing for a while and was undergoing treatment. The mortal remains would be taken to Thiruvananthapuram by afternoon and would be later taken to his home town in Chengannur. He began to actively participate in political activities right from his college days. When studying in Law College, he worked as a member of district committee and was the college union chairman. He won elections after working as CPM area secretary. He had to taste defeat at the hands of Shobhana George from the same constituency in 2001 assembly polls. In the last Assembly election, he had defeated P.C. Vishnunath of the Congress by 7983 votes. He was the president of bar council.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Speaker P Sreeramakrishanan, CPI leader Kannam Rajendran, were among those who condoled his death.
